The rights of cyclists and the relevance of the NSW Upper House became entwined in a Daily Telegraph blog last week.

The connection between these two apparently unrelated topics came when I entered the debate. Telegraph writer Paul Pottinger took exception to some of my comments and resorted to that ever-reliable form of argument - change the topic. Rather than addressing my comments on the comparable cost to society of bikes versus cars, Mr Pottinger chose to have a go at the low number of sitting days per year in the Upper House.

My response to Mr Pottiner's Upper House comments did not so they are reproduced below. To be fair to the Daily Telegraph, my response may not have been accepted as it was posted today (Monday) and the blog may have closed yesterday.
